How do I go about commissioning a portrait?

Send an email to animalartbykv@gmail.com Tell me a little bit about the pet I'll be drawing or painting and send me some reference photos. I'll get back to you within 24 hours (usually) and we can chat via phone or text about the kind of portrait you are looking for.

How do I pay?

I'll ask for a 50% deposit when I am getting ready to start your portrait with the balance due before I ship. I accept payments through Paypal or Venmo.

How long does it take?

Commissions are done in the order I receive them. Usually it takes only a couple weeks but as the holidays approach the timeline may get a little longer. If you need the portrait in a specific time frame, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

What kind of photos are best?

High resolution photos are best as it allows me to zoom in and see lots of details. This allows me to get the portrait looking as much like your fur baby as possible. I know that high resolution photos are not always possible. In this case, the more photos, the better as it makes it possible to see details that may not be in the main photo we will be using for the portrait. Occasionally, I have to turn down a commission because the available photos are just too blurry or dark.

What materials do you use?

My pet portraits are created using lightfast pastels on archival paper. You can also commission a painted portrait on canvas. Plea

My Background

I have been an artist in one way or another my entire life. Art brings me joy like nothing else can, (except maybe my dogs!!) My love for animals goes all the way back to my childhood. Being able to combine two of the great loves of my life as a career creating pet portraits and animal art is a blessing I am very grateful for!
